Three years after *The Forever Story*, JID is back with *God Does Like Ugly*—a 15-track project that flexes both his storytelling ability and his ability to pull together some of hip hop’s biggest names.
From the jump, the Atlanta rapper sets the tone with “YouUgly,” a two-part opener featuring Westside Gunn. The track’s split structure gives each MC their own space before building into a harder close. Early single “WRK” sits at track three, following “Glory,” which features an interlude from JID’s pastor—a reminder that spiritual undertones run deep throughout the album.
Clipse makes an appearance on “Community,” while “Gz” strips things back for JID to go solo, showcasing why he’s one of the most technically gifted rappers of his generation.
The feature streak picks up again with Vince Staples on “VCRs” and Ciara linking up with EARTHGANG for the uptempo “Sk8.” Don Toliver slows things down for “What We On,” before Ty Dolla \$ign and 6LACK lend their voices to the atmospheric “Wholeheartedly.”
Other guests include Jessie Reyez, Baby Kia, Mereba, and Pastor Troy, each adding their own flavor to the record. The result is a tracklist that blends rap, R\&B, and experimental sounds without losing the thread of JID’s personal narrative.
