Before the teen heartthrob roles and red carpet moments, Chad Michael Murray’s life nearly ended before it ever really began. The actor, now 43, recently shared that at just 15 years old he faced a medical emergency so severe it left him fighting for his life.
Murray revealed that he was rushed into surgery after suffering internal bleeding, losing half of his blood in the process. The situation was so critical that he required an emergency blood transfusion and spent days in the hospital barely conscious. He remembers slipping in and out of awareness, with only flashes of memory from that time.
“It was bad,” Murray admitted. “I was on my deathbed.”
The experience was a turning point, one that shaped how he sees the world and his place in it. Long before he was landing roles in One Tree Hill, Freaky Friday, and a string of TV and film projects, he had already faced a fight most people never imagine having at that age.
