Is Instagram Out of Touch?

Instagram just turned 15 and instead of fixing what is broken it rolled out a repost button.

Now you can share posts and reels directly to your friends’ feeds and keep them in a repost tab. That might sound like an update but it does nothing for creators. It only means more recycled content in timelines, more tracking, and no real change that supports originality or safety.

The bigger issues have not moved. The algorithm still works against small creators. It is still nearly impossible to discover indie artists unless they spend thousands on ads. The same polished accounts dominate while the people trying to build from the ground up are invisible.

Fifteen years in, Instagram feels more like a billboard for the few who can pay for the space. A repost button is not going to change that. Maybe it is time to look for the next platform that puts creators first.
