Mike Tyson is facing a new lawsuit over his use of the song “Murdergram” — featuring JAY-Z, DMX, and Ja Rule — in a social media promo for his 2024 fight against Jake Paul.
Producer Ty Fyffe, who created the track, filed suit on August 7 claiming Tyson used the song title and audio without permission. “Murdergram” originally appeared in JAY-Z’s 1998 *Streets Is Watching* film soundtrack. According to the complaint, neither the rappers nor their teams are part of this case — the issue is strictly between Fyffe and Tyson.
The lawsuit argues Tyson’s Instagram post, which included the track and the caption “You know what time it is #PaulTyson,” misled viewers into thinking Fyffe endorsed the fight. Fyffe also claims the use of the song helped drive viewership for the bout, which set Netflix streaming records.
The post was later deleted, but Fyffe is seeking a cut of Tyson’s event earnings and royalties for the song’s use. The complaint accuses Tyson of “intentional and willful” infringement.
The Paul vs. Tyson fight took place November 15, 2024, at AT\&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Paul won by unanimous decision.
