Mahomes Sr., a former MLB pitcher, called the arrest the most embarrassing moment of his life and says he has been sober ever since. Patrick believes his father’s realization that his children and grandchildren were watching was the push he needed to make lasting changes.
Despite the headlines, Mahomes stayed silent at the time and led his team to an overtime win against the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII. Mahomes Sr. later pled guilty, served 10 days in jail, and has reportedly remained committed to staying on track.
